The procedure of applying heat to the local specified area by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specific formed frame on that particular area for certain duration called vasti.
Types of Vasti
Shiro Vasti
It is an ayurvedic procedure in which outer head is covered by a leather cap keeping hallow inside to keep oil inside it for a certain period in such a way that oil should not leaked out.
Benefits of Shiro Vasti
It is used to treat disease concern to head, brain and neurological problem such as migraine, chronic headache, depression and throbbing pain in head. It also helpful in lowering stress building immunity against psychosomatic disease.
Greeva Vasti
Quite similar to the kati basti the procedure of applying heat to the Cervical region by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specially formed frame on this region is known by the name greeva vasti.

A reservoir, made of black gram dough, is built up on the heart area. Warm medicated oil or medicated ghee is kept over the chest for 30 minutes to 45 minutes. The oil is recycled periodically to keep it warm.
