Fissure

The anal fissure is defines as a tear in the skin of the anal canal. It is a break in the skin that causes pain and bleeding in the anal canal during and after defecation.


Causes Of Anal Fissure

  1. due to over straining. This over a period of time leads to anal fissures
  2. Trauma in women during childbirth
  3. Sexually transmitted diseases may lead to tissue rupture
  4. Ulcerative colitis
  5. Poor toilet habits in children
  6. Loose stools (Diarrhoea)
  7. Hard, dry bowel movement
  8. Chronic amoebiasis
  9. Chron’s disease
  10. Ulcerative colitis

Symptoms

The typical symptoms of anal fissure include:-

  1. Pain in the anal region
  2. Bleeding with bowel movements
  3. Pain during, and after a bowel movement
  4. Discharge, swelling and anal itching occur especially with chronic fissures
  5. Blood streaks on stool
  6. Patient notice bright red blood from the anus that can be seen on the toilet paper or on the stool

Ayurveda believes that the impairment of digestive system with the predominance of apana vata is the cause for fissures, and if bleeding occurs, it is due to Ranjaka Pitta.
